Minerals are important for your body to stay healthy. The human body uses minerals for many different purposes, like keeping the bones, muscles, heart, and brain working properly. This article discusses the vitalness of minerals.

There are two kinds of minerals:
- Firstly, Macro-minerals
- Secondly, Trace minerals
Macro-minerals:
The minerals that you include in large amounts in your diet are macro-minerals. These minerals can allow the energy to transfer among the cell membranes, nerve impulses and it is very much helpful in strengthening the heart rhythm.
Also, foods like banana, orange, potato and fish contain macro-minerals.
Macro-minerals also help in regular blood circulation throughout the body. They also maintain the heartbeat regulation and are helpful in avoiding diseases like hyper-tension and tooth-decay.
Macro-minerals also prevent muscle cramps and stimulate proper fluid balance, nerve transmission and muscle contraction.
Also, other examples include:
- calcium
- iron
- magnesium
- phosphorus
- potassium
- zinc
- sodium
- sulfur
Trace minerals:
The minerals that you include in small amounts in your diet are trace minerals and so these minerals kind are very much crucial for health, growth and development.
Trace minerals are building blocks for hundreds of enzymes, because they facilitate a multitude of bio-chemical reactions and so it is the basic requirement for neurological functions.
They also serve as anti oxidants and support the entire blood system.
Also, other examples include:
- Selenium
- copper
- manganese
- fluoride
- tin
- salt
Why body needs minerals?
Besides minerals are important for development, they are also necessary for these 3 main reasons:
- Firstly, building strong bones and teeth
- Secondly, controlling body fluids inside and outside cells
- Thirdly, turning the food into energy.
